This program matches law enforcement officers as mentors with area youth between the ages of 7 and 18 and professionally supports the one-to-one matches for their duration.
Greater Green Bay YMCA (Family Foundation) – $3,000
Family Foundations provides families with the opportunity to participate in engagement and enrichment activities to strengthen the family unit.
Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay (Positive Ties with Law Enforcement) – $3,000
Funding will support Badges for Baseball programming, family nights, and other special events, which enhance the relationships between local law enforcement, youth and their families.
Foundations Health & Wholeness Inc. (Incentives for People Experiencing Homelessness to Engage in Mental Health/AODA Groups) – $3,000
This initiative supports individuals attending critical group therapy programs which focus on maintaining sobriety and overall mental wellness to reduce isolation and increase pro-social environments that help break the cycle of crime.

SafePark aims to deter and stop people from getting behind the wheel after they have consumed alcohol.
Children’s Museum of Green Bay, Inc. (Eat: Tabletops to Cops) – $2,600
This event provides the opportunity for families to build positive connections with law enforcement officers while enjoying a healthy meal, playing in the museum’s exhibits, and participating in educational activities.
Volunteer Center Inc. of Brown County (reading Coaches for Kids 2019 – $3,500
Reading Coaches for Kids has recruits & trains tutors who help struggling students achieve reading proficiency.
Children’s Promise, Inc. (Supporting Students on the School Bus) – $941
This Children’s Promise project works with school bus leaders, parents and students to increase positive school climate and stop bullying.
Foxview Intermediate School (Kindness Retreat) – $3,000
The Kindness Retreat is designed to facilitate a positive school climate and increase meaningful relationships with a goal to develop a safe school and inspire respectful and responsible behaviors.
HSHS St. Vincent/St. Mary’s Foundation (Libertas Treatment Center) – $3,000
Funding will support substance use treatment for those who do not have adequate insurance to cover the cost of their care. Services are aimed at helping youth achieve sobriety, thereby reducing their opportunity and desire to commit crimes.

Ashwaubenon School District (Parent Involvement Nights – Mental Health Focus – $1,000
This grant will enable the school district to provide education nights where they will proactively work with parents on addressing youth mental health concerns.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin (Bigs in Blue) – $3,000
Funding for this program will support the one-to-one matching of local law enforcement officers with area youth between the ages of 7 and 13 for mentoring.
Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay (Positive Ties with Law Enforcement) – $3,000
Grant dollars will allow for the implementation of programming designed to enhance the relationships between local law enforcement and youth and their families.
De Pere Unified School District (De Pere High School Every 15 Minutes – $3,000
Funding will be used to deliver this program which is designed to show teenagers the potentially dangerous consequences of drinking alcohol, using drugs, and texting and driving.
Foundation Health & Wholeness Inc. (Mental Health Incentive Program for People Experiencing Homelessness) – $3,000
This grant will remove barriers and increase incentives for people experiencing homelessness to participate in critical group therapy opportunities at the Micah Center – St John Homeless Shelter.
Girl Scouts of the Northwester Great Lakes, Inc. (Reaching Out & New Visions) – $1,500
This award will fund programming which empowers underserved and at-risk girls, ages 10-17 at the Brown County Juvenile Detention Center, to make positive health, education and career choices.
Golden House (One Love: Domestic Violence Prevention) – $2,000
Grant dollars will be used to conduct four sessions of One Love Foundation’s Escalation Workshop at local post-secondary institutions. This program is dedicated to ending relationship abuse by education, empowering and activating young people.
Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation: Leadership Green Bay (Mindfullness Room Washington Middle School) – $3,000
Grant funding will be used to transform the mindfullness room at Washington Middle School into a space with the proper resources and atmosphere to help students regulate their emotions.
Green Bay Area Public Schools (Kujichagulia: Culturally Relevant Mentoring/Social Engagement for our Students at Risk) – $1,000
Funding will provide culturally relevant mentoring services (groups & activities) for high school students who are at risk of committing crimes in the community.
Howe Community Resource Center, Inc. – $3,000
Funding will be used to purchase a new playground for the students and community to use. The current playground is in disrepair and the lack of a decent play space has led Howe administration to see an increase in behavior difficulties during and after recess.
Volunteer Center Inc. of Brown County (Reading Coaches for Kids) – $3,000
Funding will be used to continue to sustain our Reading Coaches for Kids program, which now has a presence in five area school districts and serves over 300 students each year.

This summer program focuses on enhancing each foster child’s social and independent/transitional living skills, as well as provide a fun, safe and productive summer vacation in a safe, supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety – Ashwaubenon Public Safety Citizen’s Academy – $1,500
The Ashwaubenon Public Safety Citizen’s Academy introduces residents to police, fire, rescue duties which gives them a better understanding and respect for the profession.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin – Bigs In Blue Mentorship – $1,300

Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay – Positive Ties with Law Enforcement – $1,500
This grant will assist the Boys & Girls Club to fund a series of activities to increase positive relationships between youth and law enforcement.
Brown County Sheriff Patrol – Slow Down for Children Signs – $1,500
This initiative will fund the purchase of small yard signs that warn drivers to slow down. These signs are for concerned residents in neighborhoods with children that play outdoors and any pedestrians walking in the area.
De Pere Unified School District – Foxview Intermediate School Youth Frontiers Kindness Retreat – $2,000
This one day retreat is for every fifth-grader in the district and it will engage students in structured activities that demonstrate the powerful value of kindness.
Girl Scouts of Northwester Great Lakes – Reaching Out, New Visions Program – $1,500
The program empowers older under-served girls at the Juvenile Detention Center in Brown County with the self-confidence to make positive health, education, and career decisions.
Greater Green Bay YMCA, Inc. – YMCA at-risk after school programming – $2,300
This program provides enrichment classes in arts, building and technology for free students in the downtown area.
Green Bay Area Crime Stoppers – School Media Boards 2017 – $2,000
This initiative provides media boards to the four Green Bay School district high schools. Media boards will have information on how students can contact law enforcement with tips that can help reduce or eliminate crime.
Green Bay Police Department – Nuisance Abatement Vehicle 2017 – $2,400
The nuisance abatement vehicle is used to deter, identify, or prevent criminal activity identified by law enforcement.
Green Bay Police Department – Safe Parks – $500
This project will purchase a Cannondale Contro-E Speed bike that will allow officers to spend more time in the public and respond from park to park during the summers.
Green Bay West High School – West High Adventure – $2,300
This outdoor-based, personal and community building process is planned for a select group of students identified to be at risk for developing a pattern of drug use and developing law-breaking interactions with law enforcement.
Volunteer Center Inc. of Brown County – Reading Coaches for Kids – $3,000
This program recruits and trains tutors who help struggling students achieve reading proficiency.
Washington Middle School – Mindful Middle Schoolers – $500
Funding would create an after-school mindfulness and yoga experience for middle school students at Washington Middle school in Green Bay.

Mediation Center of Greater Green Bay = ‘Victim Offender Conferencing’ $2,600
The Center provides mediation and conflict resolution services to Brown County residents. This grant will fund 4 mediations to attend an intensive 4 day Victim Offender Conference in Milwaukee.
De Pere Police Department – Pack (Police and Community Kids)’ $2,000
The Pack Program aims to unite the police with kids in the community by partnering with the Parks Dept. and holding weekly events throughout the summer.
Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay – ‘Positive ties with Law Enforcement’ $1,500
This grant will assist the Boys & Girls Club to fund a series of activities to increase positive relationships between youth and law enforcement.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety Dept. – ‘Public Safety/Police Explorer Post 9499’ $1,000
The grant will fund a program that allows young adults ages 14-21 to experience lifelike law enforcement scenarios with hands on training.
De Pere P.D. ‘2016 Pooch II’ $2,500
The grant helps fund the purchase, training, and initial startup costs associated with a replacement police canine.
Literacy Green Bay, Inc. – ‘Child Tutoring Program’ $1,108
This grant will cover costs of supplies to assist children acquire reading, math, English, workforce and computer skills.
Green Bay P.D. – ‘Taking Guns Off the Street’ $2,000
This funds a new program that offers gift cards in exchange for the surrender of guns
Greater Green Bay YMCA – ‘At Risk School Sports Program 2016-2017’ $2,500
This grant will assist in providing 8 week programs in flag football and soccer for grades 2-5 from select area schools.
2015 Grant Recipients
De Pere Police Department – ‘Every 15 Minutes’ $1,000
The Mission of this program is to save lives and to change the culture concerning impaired driving. The program challenges high school juniors and seniors to think about drinking, drugs, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions.
Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department – ‘Citizens’s Police Academy’ $4,500
This program is designed to educate participants on the tasks and challenges of law enforcement, and to develop crime prevention partnerships between law enforcement and the public.
St. John’s Homeless Shelter = ‘Drug and Alcohol Services’ $2,000
St. John’s partners with the Micah Center (a daytime treatment center) to provide intensive programming to assist homeless individuals in their recovery from drugs and/or alcohol.
Greater Green Bay YMCA = ‘Girls Night Out & Boys Night Out’, provided by the YMCA. $2,075.
Both of these programs focus on teaching the skills boys and girls need to get along with their peers, their parents, teachers and their community.
Green Bay Area Crime Stoppers = ‘Crime Stoppers Media Board’ $1,000
A 55” digital media board will be installed at a local high school. This is an innovative approach to getting students to call in tips about crimes that have occured.
Northeast Wisconsin Veterans Treatment Court = ‘Batters Intervention Program’ $1,800.
This grant will allow some veterans charged with domestic abuse to enter a local Batters’ Intervention Program and to prevent future domestic abuse and restore the veteran’s self-esteem.
Boys & Girls Club = ‘Positive Ties with Law Enforcement’ $1,500
Activites will be implemented that will proactively engage law enforement officers with 200 community members (150 youth and 50 adult caregivers/family members).
Literacy Green Bay, Inc. = ‘Child Tutoring Program’ $1,000
This grant will be used to purchase children’s workbooks, educational software, binders/notebooks, and some art supplies. The child is tutored by a trained volunteer teen.
Pioneer Elementary School = ‘Kagen Structure’ $2,500
This grant will fund the Kagan Structure materials for twelve instructors at Pioneer School. The curriculum is designed to teach students how to gain crucial team building skills that include chracter development.
2014 Grant Recipients
Green Bay Area Crime Stoppers: $500
This grant will support and update the Green Bay Area Crime Stoppers website. There are now over 600 Crime Stoppers Programs nationwide; and our area Crime Stoppers is an extremely active program.
Boys & Girls Club: $1,050
This grant will support a Heroin Prevention Family Night initiative that will educate Club members and their families about the negative consequences that drug-related activities can result in. Heroin use is a huge problem in our area.
De Pere Police Department: $500
This grant will help support their Every 15 Minutes Program. This is a proven program that teaches teenagers the potentially dangerous consequences of drinking, texting while driving.
Ashwaubenon Dept. of Public Safety: $2,000
Funding for startup costs for their Impact Teen Driving Program, this program teaches students the consequences of reckless and distracted driving.
Northeast Wisconsin Veterans Treatment Court: $1,000
Funding that will support the NEWVTC Program that supports Veterans who have been in trouble with the law, turn their lives around. The motto of the court is, “Leave No Veteran Behind”.
Green Bay Police Department: $3,000
Skateboard Mentor Program, a program that builds a positive relationship between law enforcement and the skateboard community. This is the first program of this type that is known within the law enforcement community.
Ashwaubenon School District: $2,700
Strengthening Families 10-14 Program, this is an evidence based 7 week program that meets once a week with 8-13 selected families that helps students reduce problem behaviors, delinquency and alcohol/drug abuse.
Literacy Green Bay: $1,000
This is a proven program; and this grant will provide books, educational games, binders and notebooks for their Child Tutoring Program. This program focuses on elementary aged children who are English language learners.
Green Bay Police Department: $1,000
Website development for the Brown County Heroin Response Initiative. A community Forum will be held addressing the Heroin problem in our community. The GPBD is working with the Brown County Drug Task Force to host the Community Forum.
De Pere Police Department: $1,500
2014 Citizens Academy; This Academy is organized by Volunteers in Police Services and offers an interactive opportunity for citizens to gain knowledge of the departments operations and procedures. The grant would cover operational expenses.
Pioneer Elementary School: $1,200
For a Buddy Bench, the grant would provide funds for an actual Buddy Bench to be installed on the playground to help reduce bullying by increasing modeled positive behaior towards other students. Costs cover the bench and some printed materials.
Greater Green Bay YMCA: $540
Grant supports their Cooking Club and Hangout Zone for students that attend the Y Night which is designed to keep youth active and supervised while having fun and learning life skills. The Hangout Zone is for older students.
My Brothers Keeper: $1,000
For providing group Mentoring Sessions at Green Bay Area Public Schools, funding would help fund Straight Talk-Sound Direction mentoring students are taught to be accountable for their decisions and to make their decisions ethically and honestly.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety Dept.: $2,942
For the State Conference on Crime Prevention, these funds would display the Crime Prevention Foundation logo on all printed material, trophies and the marketing at the 3 day event which hosts local Police Explorer Posts from around the state.
2013 Grant Recipients
Ashwaubenon Public Safety (Neighborhood Watch) Grant: $1,200
The Ashwaubenon Public Safety Dept. is being awarded $1,200 for their Neighborhood Watch Program. This grant will allow the dept. to purchase banners and a computer so they will be able to reach more citizens and have a greater awareness in the community of the benefits of the Neighborhood Watch Program.
De Pere Middle School (Male Mentorship Program) Grant: $1,500
A $1,500 grant is being awarded to the De Pere Middle School. This new program will target at-risk boys by re-directing criminal thinking/behavior and promoting responsible behavior. The at-risk youth will be shown how they can become respectful citizens by working with law enforcement and community role models.
De Pere Police Department (Citizen Academy) Grant: $1,200
This grant will support the De Pere Police Dept. in re-starting their Citizen’s Police Academy that has been inactive for 5 years. The Dept. has a group of officers and citizens (VIPS) already in place to kick start this program. Citizen Academies have been proven to be effective in showing citizens how police departments operate and how academy participants can help prevent and report crime throughout the community.
Dickinson Elementary School (Playground Pals Program) Grant: $1,000
The Playground Pals Program grant will allow the Dickinson School to provide positive social interaction for all students. Student volunteers from grades 1-4 are trained to be positive friendship role models and given conflict resolution skills to use. The Playground Pal will wear Playground Pals T-Shirts and will always say “Yes” if asked to play or seek out others who may need a friend. The grant will cover printing supplies for training, game materials and supplies for this program.
Greater Green Bay YMCA (Y-Klub) Grant: $540 + $55., 12/5/13
This $540 grant will assist the YMCA to continue their Friday night program that gives kids a place to go on Friday nights that is safe, has planned activities and helps the attendees develop positive attitudes through programs such as team building. These grant dollars will help fund the Cooking Club held on Friday nights twice a month.
Green Bay Area Crime Stoppers (Prevention Program) Grant: $800
This $800 grant will help the Green Bay Area Crime Stoppers Program purchase a LED Scrolling Light that will be placed in the Commons Area of Preble High School. The sign will provide information on how to report criminal activity, it will be an attention getting and the message can be changed frequently as needed.
Green Bay Area Public Schools (Increase Attendance Program) Grant: $2,000
The goal of this program is to increase school attendance and in doing so decrease daytime crime throughout the community. These dollars will be used to have PSA’s and inform the community of attendance issues. Another tier of the program will be having funds available to assist students and their parents in overcoming barriers that get in the way of regular school attendance. The district also has a vision of holding a city-wide attendance summit to brainstorm how to increase school attendance.
Green Bay Police Department (Multi-Jurisdictional Teen Police Academy) Grant: $2,550
This grant will support the Green Bay Police Department’s Teen Police Academy that has proven to be effective in developing positive relationships with its teen attendees. In the past, many of the participants have gone on to become police officers, teachers or enrolled in college. The 2013 program anticipates have approx. 33 attendees from 10 high school from throughout Brown County.
Literacy Green Bay (Child Tutoring Program) Grant: $1,000
This grant will allow Literacy Green Bay to purchase program supplies i.e. children’s books, education games, binders/notebooks and other materials to continue its Child Tutoring Program. Many of the tutors, who are volunteers, spend 2-3 hours weekly helping children to read better and also the volunteers become role models and mentors to the younger children. Literacy Green Bay has been around since 1981 and has a proven record of success.
YWCA of Green Bay-De Pere (After School Program) Grant: $2,000
This grant will allow low-income to attend the YWCA;s After School Program. This program serves school age children 6-12, with a special focus on at-risk children. Part of this program teaches children about the “I-Message”, self-respect and what to do when being bullied by another child or adult. The program also offers homework assistance and how to build self-esteem and setting long-term goals.
Green Bay Police Department (Bicycle License Program) $1,600
This grant will fund a county-wide new bicycle license and registration program. All area police departments will participate in this program, which is free to the public. It is designed to give the police a better chance of returning a lost or stolen bicycle to the owner. A free sticker is issued to the owner at the time of registration.
2012 Grant Recipients
Bay Port High School
Project: Every 15 Minutes
Grant: $1,000.00
Summary: Every 15 Minutes is a two-day program focusing on educating youth on the dangers of drinking and driving by challenging them to make responsible decisions and showing them the impact of impulsive choices to drink and drive. Bay Port High School has approximately 850 sophomore and junior students as well as district staff, parents and community members who participate in the program every two years. A Crime Prevention Foundation grant will help with some of the costs of the next program offering at Bay Port High School.
Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay
Project: Teen Advisory Council
Grant: $1,200.00
Summary: The Teen Advisory Council will provide the opportunity for Boys & Girls Club teens to engage in leadership roles at the Club. Council members will provide input during the development of Club policies, influence peers through the enforcement of Club rules, and recommend constructive consequences for members who commit severe and/or ongoing behavioral infractions so that offenders will engage in Club programming rather than be expelled from them. Funding will cover staff costs for Teen Advisory Council initiatives.
Brown County Jail Ministries, Inc.
Project: Houses of Healing and Power Source Programming
Grant: $1,700.00
Summary: Houses of Healing is a program offered at the Brown County Jail which helps incarcerated people deals with emotional issues that may be the root cause of illegal behavior and drug, alcohol, and other addictions. Brown County Jail Ministries will also initiate a similar program called Power Source geared toward teenagers. Funding will help purchase textbooks and manuals for both programs.
Brown County Sheriff’s Office
Project: Child Exchange Safety Zone
Grant: $500.00
Summary: The Child Exchange Safety Zone is an area at the Brown County Sheriff’s Department where parents, especially those who do not have an amicable relationship, can make child custody exchanges in a safe environment. By offering the option to exchange children, the Sheriff’s Department aims to reduce domestic violence and formalize a safe area for child custody exchanges since some parents already make exchanges outside the Sheriff’s Office. Funding will be used for designated signage for the Safety Zone.
Greater Green Bay YMCA, Inc.
Project: Downtown Y Klub Supplies
Grant: $1,300.00
Summary: The Downtown YMCA offers Y Klub for students in the 4 th to 8th grades primarily from downtown neighborhoods. Y Klub protects the personal safety of juveniles by keeping them off the streets and having youth participate in activities that involve team building and getting to know kids from other schools. On average, 80 students are off the street on 38 Friday nights during the school year. Funding will cover with the costs of some activities and supplies, such as a DJ, karaoke machine, dance instructor, and art supplies.
Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce
Project: Partners in Education: Parents Who Host, Lose the Most
Grant: $1,000.00
Summary: Parents Who Host, Lose the Most campaign supports alcohol-free high school graduation and prom celebrations for students at their high schools with a focus on educating parents on their roles and responsibilities not to provide alcohol to minors. The 2012-2013 campaign will strengthen the support of parent networks and will remind and educate parents of their roles and responsibilities and about breaking the cycle of crime by providing alcohol to minors. Funding will help with the campaign, public service announcement and social media campaign development, and post prom activities.
United Hmong and Asian American Community Center
Project: Youth Intervention Program
Grant: $3,000.00
Summary: The United Hmong and Asian American Community Center is establishing a Youth Intervention Program designed to help children, teens, and their parents manage the challenges of adapting to life in a new culture, in order to increase their chances to achieve school and family success and decrease their likelihood of becoming involved in the juvenile justice system. At-risk students, ages 5 through middle school, will participate in a variety of after-school activities including recreation, tutoring, and one-on-one mentoring. Funding will cover the costs of recreational and personal development activities.
Volunteer Center Inc. of Brown County
Project: BABES Program
Grant: $1,500.00
Summary: The Beginning Alcohol and Addictions Basic Education Studies (BABES) program program is a research-based primary prevention program designed to teach children how to live a happy, healthy, drug and tabacco free life. Lessons are primarily presented by volunteers. Funding will help with program and training materials, and some staff time.
YWCA of Green Bay-De Pere
Project: After School and Anti-Bullying Program
Grant: $2,000.00
Summary: The YWCA’s After School Program brings children from Howe School, many who are highly at-risk, to the YWCA for positive afterschool activities. The After School program will teach children about self-respect and asking for help so that they can stand up and learn to deal with peer pressure and bullying. Funding will help with the costs of the program.
